CECA: CEO ToR

REFERENCE TERMS 

I. REQUESTING ORGANIZATION

Center of Excellence in Cacao (CECA) managed by the transitional beneficiary “Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia”.

II. PURPOSE OF THE CONTRACT To hire a professional with expertise in market­ oriented technology­ based companies, for the post of CEO of the Center of Excellence in Cacao (CECA).

III. DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES

✓ Establish the CECA in a period of 6 months.

✓ Lead the creation, implementation and management of the CECA.

✓ Lead the implementation of the strategic plan and oversee performance and economic viability of the CECA.

✓ Develop the annual budget for Board’s approval.

✓ Report to the Board regarding the activities of the CECA as required (at least twice a year).

✓ Develop, in conjunction with the Board, the standard policies as well as those specific to R&D lines of the CECA.

✓ Supervise the daily performance of R&D programs or other programs that have been implemented in the strategic plan.

✓ Provide executive reports to shareholders and/or FONDECYT on the progress of the activities in the timetable proposed for the project.

✓ Manage the CECA and recruit its management team

✓ Ensure a working environment that recruits, retains, and motivates quality team members.

✓ Ensure the quality and stability of the organizational development program.

✓ Create strategic and collaborative relationships with third parties, including the private sector and NGOs for the further fulfillment of the purposes of the CECA and sustainable growth; And,

✓ Drive corporate affairs as well as public relations and communication efforts, in a way that allows the branding and development of positioning of the CECA.

✓ In turn, the CEO functions will be to support the Board of the EC including the following:

a) Represent the CECA in negotiations and other procedures before the Shareholders and FONDECYT; And,

b) Side with the Board in seeking to obtain additional funds for the CECA.

✓ The CEO also must perform any other functions as may be necessary to further the objectives and purposes of the EC.

IV. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Senior professional with a MSc, MBA or PhD. who has previously held the position of CEO with experience of over 10 years in the agricultural sector (cacao sector most desirable) and has participated in projects implementing R&D (preferably experience as manager of centers/departments of R&D) with the following specific requirements:

● Experience in managing financial resources from international cooperation agencies.

● Experience in managing research projects.

● Competitiveness in food value chains.

● Knowledge of managing commercial products / services derived from R&D.

● Advanced English and Spanish

● Availability for full­time residency in Peru

● Possibility of frequent travel

In addition, the candidate must have the following skill sets:
