ARGUMENTO




Charlie Bucket es un niño que vive con sus padres y sus dos parejas de abuelos en una casita de madera en las afueras de una gran ciudad.

Esta familia era muy humilde. Sólo trabajaba el padre, quien no ganaba lo suficiente para mantener a todos. La comida siempre era escasa y poco variada: pan y margarina, papa y repollo.

A Charlie le encantaba comer chocolate, pero sólo podía hacerlo una vez al año, el día de su cumpleaños. Los miembros de su familia ahorraban y le compraban una chocolatina, que él saboreaba poco a poco, haciendo que le durara más de un mes.

La mayor tortura de Charlie era pasar cada día delante de la fábrica de chocolate que había frente a su casa. Un día, el dueño de la fábrica, Willi Wonka, publica un anuncio en el periódico informando que ha escondido cinco billetes dorados en sus chocolatinas, y que los niños afortunados que las encuentren podrán visitar su fábrica y obtener un fabuloso regalo.

Charlie, quien ha hallado una moneda, puede comprar dos chocolatinas. Para suerte de él, en la segunda encuentra uno de los billetes dorados. Junto con su abuelo Joe y los otros cuatro niños y sus padres, acude a visitar la fábrica de chocolate.

A lo largo del intenso día en la fábrica, sólo Charlie se comporta bien y obedece las indicaciones del dueño.

Como recompensa a su humildad y sensibilidad, recibe el gran regalo: es nombrado dueño y director de la fábrica.

Solo 7% de peruanos ha comido chocolate real alguna vez en su vida

Las golosinas sabor chocolate abundan en cada bodega, pero el chocolate puro es un manjar escaso. Sorprendentemente, muy pocos peruanos lo hemos probado alguna vez, según la Asociación para la promoción del chocolate peruano (Aprochoc).
“Menos del 7% de la población debe haber comido chocolate en su vida”, reveló Víctor Padilla, presidente de Aprochoc.
Lo curioso es que, según Padilla, más del 50% de peruanos se considera chocolatero. El problema está en la educación.
“Toda su vida han comido golosinas con sabor a chocolate, y ellos asumen que es chocolate”, anotó. Los chocolateros, obviamente, lo tienen muy claro.
La principal diferencia se encuentra en el porcentaje de cacao que tiene cada producto. “Se considera chocolate real cuando tiene un mínimo de 50% de cacao”, observó José Iturrios, director de la Alianza Cacao Perú.
Por otro lado, el chocolate ofrece beneficios que las golosinas no podrían obtener.
Mientras que el chocolate es un alimento que ayuda a la salud, el resto de dulces son “pura azúcar”, añadió iturrios.
Este pequeño detalle genera una gran diferencia en los precios. Y enseñar cuáles son las razones de este incremento es uno de los objetivos de Aprochoc.

Consumo engañoso

El único estudio de consumo de chocolate fue elaborado por Nestlé, aseguró Padilla. Y reveló que el consumo per cápita anual es de 600 gr.
No obstante, este monto es menor, si se toma en cuenta el chocolate puro. “Nuestra realidad podría ser mucho más grave. Alrededor de 200 gr anuales”, señaló.
¿Por qué la gravedad? Comparado con Bélgica, por ejemplo, estamos en pañales. Durante la presentación del VIII Salón del cacao y chocolate, el embajador adjunto, Geer Deserrano, informó que el consumo anual es de 8 kg per cápita en su país.
En la región, Chile, sin ser productor de cacao, está alrededor de los 2 kg per cápita anuales.
Pero hay una reacción. El presidente de Aprochoc ha planteado la meta de 1.5 kg anuales al finalizar el 2018. Por el momento, a comer chocolate.

AMERICAS Competition 2017 – WINNERS





The International Chocolate Awards is pleased to announce the Winners of the 2017 Americas Competition, which was judged in Hoboken, in the New York Metropolitan Region, 29 March-4 April.
The competition was judged alongside the 2017 Asia-Pacific competition, with a combined total of over 1,000 products registered for judging, a record for the 
International Chocolate Awards, including over 650 plain and flavoured bars. For the first time, 2017 sees Americas and Asia-Pacific announced as a separate competitions, recognising the increasing number of entries and quality in both regions.

The judging panel included judges from USA, Europe, Japan, South America and the USA and members of our international Grand Jury panel.

















Prizes

The entry categories include dark and milk plain/origin bars along with micro-batch categories, filled chocolate and spreads and are based on consultation with the fine chocolate industry. All judging is anonymised, included at the Grand Jury final session, where Golds, Silver and Bronze prizes are awarded by private voting according to the Grand Jury rulesEntrant confidentiality is respected at all times and only the names of Winners and Grand Jury finalists are released.

Best in competition

Overall ‘best in competition’ single Golds were awarded for the best bar in the combined dark and combined milk chocolate categories, as voted for by the Grand Jury after all other scores have been compiled.
Additional Silver and Bronze prizes were given in several categories due to the high number of entries and excellent quality level.
Prizes are awarded only to entries that meet the required standard in each category.
